Requirements and Limits

  • Introduction to Cave certification
  • Texts - NSS-CDS Cave Diving Manual: An Overview and NSS-CDS Cave Diver Course Student Workbook
  • Course duration is two days
  • Course includes lectures, emergency drills, four cave dives and decompression
  • Time limited certification card (1 year)
  • Double cylinders with dual valve manifold and isolator valve
  • US Navy Dive Tables with decompression schedule
  • One Primary and one safety reel per diver
  • Canister type cave diving light with minimum of 30 watts and a 1 1/2 hour burn time
  • Back plate/harness/back mounted air cell type setup - or similar
  • Oxygen bottle for use during decompression - recommended
  • DAN Diving insurance - recommended
